In February, 2017, 11 companies from New York, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania participated in the Conference's trade mission to Indonesia and Vietnam.

In November 2016, the Conference led a successful trade mission to Poland and Romania. The mission delegation is seen here with U.S. Ambassador to Romania Hans Klem.




Conference Recognized for International Trade Efforts

On April 8, 2016, the Conference of Great Lakes & St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers received the prestigious National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE) Advancing International Trade Award at the organization’s annual conference in Newport, Rhode Island.  The award recognizes the dedication and service of those who are advancing international trade in each State in the U.S. as well as Canada and Mexico.

Conference Opens Germany and U.K. Trade Offices

The Conference opened two new trade offices on April 1, 2015 to cover Europe.  The offices, strategically located in Berlin and London, will promote exports from the Great Lakes region, and assist companies to find customers and business opportunities in Belgium, Central Europe, Denmark, France, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Germany, Greenland, Holland, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Southern Europe, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The European Union’s single market of over 500 million consumers allows free movement of people, goods services and capital between the 28 EU member countries.  In 2014, U.S. trade with Europe totaled nearly $350 billion.
